About

Hi, my name is Lilla and this is my blog – Transalysis. The purpose of this blog is to share long-form opinions and essays relating to transness, with a specific focus on trans women and transfeminism.

I am a transsexual woman, who came out of the closet when I was 15 in the mid 2010s. What followed was a very long and drawn-out process, in which I was let down by every adult and institution in my life. I’m from the UK, where things are currently very messy, and I’ve grown frustrated with a lot of misinformation that has started to spread through our circles. For example, it is truly shocking seeing trans people believing in the fictional notion of “biological sex”, which shows just how successful TERFs have been in dominating our discussions.

I have a BSc in Pharmacology, an MA in Multimedia Journalism, and experience working within the tech sector.

Um… “transsexual”? Are you a transmedicalist?

Absolutely not. I do not believe that access to HRT should be dependent on any sort of medical diagnosis and am fully supportive of DIY approaches to healthcare, until we have a society where these medications are available over-the-counter and free of charge. We should have full control over our bodies and should not require a doctor’s permission to change them.

I prefer “transsexual” as a term, because I’m sick of the notion that trans people “change their gender, not their sex”. That’s not true and I blame the focus on “sex isn’t the same as gender!” arguments for it. Besides, “transsexual” is a much cooler term.

Who is this site for?

Honestly… me? If you get something from it, then great! I’m glad. But I’m mostly just doing this because I have a lot of thoughts that I need to get out of my head that aren’t appropriate to scream into the void on social media.

I’m not trying to write for a general cis audience, so apologies if you are a cis person who has no idea what I’m talking about. This isn’t for you. Goodbye!
